Des Moines, Oh Des Moines how thy confuse me. I just need to get something off my chest here. I have lived in this town for well coming up on two years now and every day I am reminded that most of the population of this town are horrible drivers. I mean NO ONE uses their blinker, most people don't even start to get into the turn lane until they are almost at the intersection (which means they will inevitably be sticking out into your lane if the light is red), oh and to top it all off, NO ONE seems to either 1) know how to park or 2) back out of a parking space. I mean you either see everyone parking where they can pull through while leaving their ass end in the other space or if you do find someone that parked without pulling through, you never want to park next to them as they are most likely so crooked that you will fear for your cars paint job the whole time you are shopping. I haven't really been anywhere in this town yet that has parallel parking and to tell you the truth, I am kinda scared to. Who knows what kinds of craziness abounds in those parking spaces.
The other thing I have grown accustomed to in this town is leaving at least three car lengths between myself and the car in front of me. I mean if you don't you risk serious damage to your car as some moron is going to sqeeze in there no matter if you leave space or not. Once everyone gets moving they all drive like madmen but god forbid you actually try to get them moving once the light turns green, OMG Des Moines GREEN MEANS GO, it doesn't mean "hey lets just sit at the light and maybe one day we will give it some gas and get moving.
The greater population of this area is also very rude in general. I can never have a good experience while shopping here. People are always getting in the way, barging in front of you or heck even running into you while walking. Well either them or their kids is running into you since the children aren't kept in check at stores either. Heck just yesterday while at Sam's Club the wife and I were heading to a checkout that was empty and the checker was waving us over. This lady proceeds to cut in front of us asking the checker if she is open and when she finds out she is, she just stands there waiting for her shopping companion to get over there with the cart. The wife normally takes everything in stride but she told me after we went outside that if the lane right next to that one hadn't emptied just at that time she would have went off. Now that would have been hilarious to see as she normally is the one telling me to calm down when the crazies get to me.
Well I think that is plenty of ranting for now so until next time,
J. Out

Des Moines is well known for its "offesive" driving.
Yes, and I also find that in Des Moines, Green means stop and Red means go. Yellow just means go faster its about to turn red.
